Investigation of Listeria monocytogenes in workers, equipment and environments at Kaymak processing plants

Abstract Listeria monocytogenes is a nutrient-borne pathogen spread to processed products such as vegetables, fruits and dairy products. Especially in the industry, presence of L. poses major problem milk, plants. Infection caused by this bacterium serious threat individuals immunosuppressed patients, newborns, elderly pregnant women. In study, Afyonkarahisar/Turkey samples taken from plants that produce three different kaymak types was investigated. For purpose, total 87 production plant, surfaces equipment plant employees were examined according ISO 11290-1 protocol. According results our detected 8.33% 36 processing 16.66% 24 pieces plant. not workers’ hands, aprons or boots at all When obtained are interpreted, it understood may pose significant risk public health if necessary precautions cream.
